E.O.V. Blues

Well, I guess I got the End Of Vacation blues. Early next week, it’s back to work. We’re entering a normal holiday weekend and today is my last vacation day. The final Friday.

But im glad it’s the weekend, glad to be putting 2022 behind me and 2021 further behind me.2023 is going to be a great year!

This isn’t necessarily my last post of the year, but it might be, ya never know. The thought never occurred to me till just now.

have a great day, a fantastic weekend, and a most excellent new year, if I don’t talk to you again before then;

Use It Or Lose It

It’s Friday and I have the day off. I am starting to “use it or lose it” for my vacation time this year. I’m taking Fridays off all Noverember, Thursdays and Fridays off in December and the last two weeks of the year off.

I plan on doing a lot of yard work and beach time. Today I’m helpung out Rabbi build a Sukkah for Sukkot, which starts Sunday. A long time ago, the Hebrews were commanded to make a pilgrimage to the temple in Jerusalem, and a sukkah is the tempory shelter they lived in.

After that I plan on having lunch at the Westin!

Have a great weekend and a happy Friday!

Dondice Occidentalis

Above is a screenshot from an internet search Dondice Occidentalis.

Below is a picture I took yesterday of a Dondice Occidentalis.

Dondice Occidentalis by me.

The picture above is quite good, I think, except for the excellent camouflage.

It was a good long weekend. I got a lot (half) of the items on my list done, planted seeds, replanted an ailing lemon tree, which was like an exploratory surgery that didn’t find anything wrong.

Today is back to work, tomorrow jury duty starts.

have a good week!

Pretty Caterpillars

There was a whole slew of giant caterpillars eating one of my trees. Here’s a short video. The big ones were 7 or 8 inches long. Most were big.

I sprayed them yesterday. I may have to spray again in a few weeks but I think not. I did not enjoy killing sushi pretty things but the tree’s life has value too.

Happy Friday! Happy Constitution Day weekend! Coincidentally this year, American 4th of July falls on the same day. Monday is a holiday here and in the USA.

Also this weekend is Cayman Carnival! That’s gonna be fun!

Have a great weekend!

Queens Jubilee Monday

Today is our last day off for the Queens Jubilee. Looking forward to her 80th

It doesn’t seem like it was a long 4 day weekend.

It’s not cloudy now, and the wind isn’t howling , but it was all weekend. My friends who tried to go diving couldn’t, seas were too rough.

I did some yard work, I am making anti chicken covers for the planters out front . Just a screen lid really. Pictures of them coming later. Below is a picture of the plants in my house that I took this morning. There’s more in the picture than it looks like, and there’s more not in the picture. Lots more. I keep splitting them up so I can sell them, but I never see them

I hope you will have a very nice week.

Some Underwater Photos

Its Discovery Day, a holiday Monday here in Cayman. It was supposed to rain for 10 days but it’s been mostly sunny. Hurt at last two of my low light plants pretty badly. I out them out for rain and they got sunburnt.

Below are pictures from yesterdays dive.

Also, on Saturday, I did the CIASA 800M Swim, I was pleasantly surprised to come in 3rd in my age category, willing a 3rd place medal. 3rd out of 5. I’ve never been a racer, I’ve never been on a swim team. I’ve been a lifeguard and swimming lesson teacher and scuba diver/instructor. I realized I am slow and steady,.one speed no matter how far I have to go. So I’m no longer obsessed about going fast, I want the t-shirt.

Anyway, have a fantastic week!

Multiple Dives Multiple Pictures.

This is my back to work, weekend report after afour day weekend.

Thursday was an active day. I swam the half mile during my lunch hour, then I went on a night dive Thursday night. Below are a few pictures from the dive.

My photo light died while I was shooting the octopus. It was my first night dive in a very long time.

And below pictures are from Fridays dive.

Friday night was the start of Passover I went to a Seder. This is our table before it started. Once it did start, my camera was put away.

Below are pictures from Sundays dive

Aaaaaand below pictures are from Mondays dive.

And now it’s back to work Tuesday. We had a good rain this morning and it’s still cloudy and spritzing. I hope everyone has a great week!

Stealing My Stars

I think this one should have been n right. For those who don’t use Duolingo for free, you start each day with 5 stars. And you can only make 5 mistakes and then it’s a hassle to keep your number of days streak going. (My streak is 280-something).

Sometimes it seems like they’re unfair a d try to steal my stars. I know it’s not true, but sometimes I feel like it, especially when I make dumb mistakes when I have only one or two stars left.

i went to bed early last night, and slept an extra 20 minutes this morning.

Friday and Monday are holidays here. I’m glad.

have a great day!

windy weekends

we have had four or five or six windy weekends in a row. Bad enough to prevent diving and hurt my plants.

it’s getting later noticeably earlier, hello is a picture of the same old scene from our morning dog walk.

The Road

i got a lot of work done in the yard. I have the conduit ready to run my new internet cable.

It was, overall, a good weekend. There will be a short week this week and next because of Easter.

Have a good week!
