Well, Wednesday, Wow

It’s Wednesday, I started to post yesterday but had something come up I needed the computer for, so I deleted the meager post I had started.

I don’t really have much to say today. There’s not much going on. I have a couple of work projects going on, but things are in a holding pattern right now. I have to make some work related phone calls today but that’s it.

I got some caulk and I’m going to caulk a crack in the front eave, and upstairs between the floor and the wall. I re-did some potted plants this morning, but other than that, my life is boring.

Last night it rained, and I put the plants out for water and it literally stopped raining the second I put the last plant out. Then it got very windy so I brought the plants back in, and it instantly started raining again. God doesn’t want my plants to have water, or he’s left me in charge of the weather, and I don’t know it. I put them back out and left them out all night. They got wet. This morning I had a hankerin’ for some Lynyrd Skynyrd, so as soon as The Wife left, I listened to this album.

It was good.

Have a good Wednesday.

Mandatory Monday

I went diving on Saturday, above are some pictures I took. Adult spotted drum, queen angel and an eel. Saw a turtle too, but the pictures aren’t very good, not that any of these are.

The Driveway is officially done! Now I have to clean up. I’ve already started and am almost done, just raking around the edges to get rid of all the loose concrete bits and whatnot.

As I mentioned last week, there seems to be an ant problem. I’ve been tracking them down. I think I found two big nests but I still think there’s one more….. The war continues.

Have a good week!

cant miss it

Last night I dreamed I was driving a car. I was looking for a turn. You cant miss it. I was told. I drove and drove. “I think we missed it!” I said. You cant miss it, I was assured.
Turns out we passed it before anyone told us we couldn’t miss it. It was the first turn you couldn’t miss.
It was a long way back.

Then I had a dream I was taking these excellent pictures. Like you couldn’t look away excellent. Neither dream was bad. The first was funny and the second was, well, excellent!

I started plastering the sides of the driveway with mortar. I will continue today.
Also I have some interesting business opportunities coming up….
Fingers Crossed!

Weird Dream Wednesday

I just typed a very long post about all the weird dreams I had last night. I uploaded a photo of the track of Tropical Storm Ernesto, pressed the letter “N” for my next word, and the whole thing disappeared. I hit undo several times, but could not get my post back. Let me tell you, while I still think wordpress is better than Blogger, crap like that never happened on Blogger.

So lets start again, all pissed off this time.

I had a bunch of weird dreams last night. I dreamed I was going to be tortured by having my feet smashed against a wall with bricks. I was more concerned with having to stand there the whole time than the pain. I elected not to do it and walked away. This was on a ship, or a train.

I dreamed I was in this building carved out of a cliff. There were doorways with no doors, windows with no glass, and pools of green water in almost every room. I walked to the road and got on my bicycle and rode away, but forgot something and had to go back.

I dreamed I went to the cigar store and someone said “don’t buy any cigars today”. I wanted a cigar so I asked and the owner started yelling at me. Everything was all weird and different. The store wasn’t normal.

There were more on my first post, which I have forgotten already. Damn you WordPress!

It is a poor musician who blames his instrument.

At one point I woke up and my feet were where my head should have been and my head was where my feet go. I slept a lot,  but not good.

Ernesto is gone and we got maybe two inches of rain, judging from my bucket outside. We need more. It has been raining regularly in town but not here. I was hoping for a direct hit from Ernesto just for the rain. It looks like today is going to get sunny again.

And that’s it for today. I have some work this afternoon at yet another radio station. Where’s the money? I work but there’s no money…

Ant Attack and Ernesto

This morning the back porch was crawling with ants. They were running around with their eggs and whatnot. Hopefully I annihilated them.

Tropical storm Ernesto has been a big disappointment for me. So far, we’ve barely had any rain. West Bay needs rain. It trickled a little the last full moon, and a sprinkle the full moon before that. (It always rains during the full moon in Cayman). Our plants need rain.
Today I’m buying toilet parts and a bag of concrete. I’m going to fix our runny toilet and pretty up the sides of the new concrete. No, I’m not going to fill in the catprints.
Have a good week!

A Good Slab, With A Somewhat Disappointing Finish

The driveway/carport is finished, except I gotta take the forms off today and clean up.

It went well, and I did it all by myself, except the pouring and finishing and the shoveling and moving of gravel. It cost less than $1500.

The cats, chickens and I messed it up.

The pour started at 3:30 PM, and it was 5 PM by the time we finished. I went upstairs to get the dogs for their walk, and when I came down, I saw Little One Thee Cat run out on the wet cement, sink a good 3 or 4 inches, and run back off. I smoothed it OK.

Then there was thunder and all the cats seemed to disappear, so I went upstairs.

When The Wife got home,  I came down to show her the job and there were cat tracks and chicken tracks all over. We tried to smooth it with the board, and really messed things up. I called my finisher and asked him to come back over. He did and we smoothed it again, but this time it was very smooth and I was afraid it might be slippery when wet. He told me to brush it with a broom when it set a little more.

I went to the store and bought a street broom, and on my way out I saw Al run across, leaving deep tracks. When I got home there was more cat and chicken tracks across. The cement had set surprisingly fast and I was unable to brush the marks away. So, the finish is not what I had hoped.

Also, with the thunder came some rain, and the rain dripped off the side of the house in a concentrated area of the slab, so there’s pockmarks from that.

Overall, concrete man would probably call it atrocious, but it will work. It will be nice to have the cars under cover, out of the sun and rain. And, I used 3000 psi concrete and it is a very strong, heavy duty slab of concrete.

Below are several pictures of the whole process, start to finish.

I Don’t Know What I’m Doing

Today. I have a lot of maybe plans, but none firmed up

Two radio station jobs maybe. I’d like to defer one a day if I could. I gotta go into town and pay some bills. One bill for the only people who don’t have Internet banking yet.
Gotta order my concrete for the big pour tomorrow (or Friday). And I have some last minute readying for that.
Been working on this computer that is fuuuuuuucked up. Want to get to a stopping place on that. I’ve always hated Compaq.
And that’s my mushy P.O.D. Plan of the day.
